If you've tried our troubleshooting tips for missing/inconsistent notifications and still cannot resolve the problem, it's important to note the following:
- Edison Mail uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) for reliable notifications delivery. Not all email providers offer robust support for notifications on their own, and AWS addresses this issue to extend notifications support to more account types.
- Depending on your email provider, notifications via AWS may result in several IMAP commands per minute (to check for new messages.) We also use IMAP IDLE command, which sends about 1-2 commands every 5-15 minutes, or periodic login commands if your provider doesn't support IMAP IDLE. Not all email providers offer adequate support for these login methods, or they're incompatible – this can lead to delayed notifications (or notifications for some messages but not all.)
- In rare cases, an email provider may mistake this activity as suspicious and limit requests from our app/your account.
If you've read the information above, and you've completed all the troubleshooting steps with no resolution, please contact our support team with more information and they can investigate.
