If your password has changed or your account has lost connection, you can reconnect by following the instructions below. As a reminder, these are the supported account types in Edison Mail.
Quick Reconnect
- Open the Edison Mail app
- Look for a red “Reconnect” banner
- Tap it and follow the prompts
- Tap the menu (☰) icon
- Go to Settings
- Select your account
- Scroll down and tap Reconnect Account
- Tap the menu (☰) icon
- Go to Settings
- Select your account
- Scroll down and tap Log out
- Add your account again
Why do accounts disconnect?
Accounts usually disconnect when the app can’t verify your login. Common reasons include:
- Password changes or expired credentials
- Provider security updates or blocked access
- IMAP access being disabled on the provider side
- Missing permissions for third-party apps
- Network interruptions or unstable connections
- VPN or device-level restrictions
- Provider-side outages or temporary blocks
Important notes for certain providers:
Some email providers require manual permission to allow third-party apps like Edison Mail to connect via IMAP. If this setting is disabled, reconnection may fail even if your password is correct.
For Outlook/Hotmail accounts:
Please make sure IMAP access is enabled:
Log in to your Outlook account via a web browser
Click the Settings (gear icon) → View all Outlook settings
Go to Mail → Forwarding and IMAP
Ensure “Let devices and apps use IMAP” is enabled
Save any changes

If this setting is disabled, the app will not be able to connect or sync emails.
For Gmail accounts:
1. Enable IMAP
- Sign in at Gmail.com
- Click Settings (
) → See all settings
- Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP
- Enable IMAP access and save
Gmail requires an app password for third-party apps:
- Enable 2-Step Verification (2FA) on your Google account
- Generate an App Password
- Use this instead of your regular password when adding your account
General tips:
Make sure no VPN or restrictive network settings are active
Try switching between WiFi and mobile data
